Teachers' pressure grow and Bolivian government minimizes demand

TEACHERS' STRIKE • Urban teachers radicalize their actions for a wage increase of 12 percent. The President Evo Morales said the subject is closed.

LA PAZ, Bolivia. —Bolivian teachers marched through the streets of La Paz for a wage increase of 12 percent, as opposed to five percent offered by the Government. The strike spreads nationwide. The Executive minimizes and gives by far the negotiations were concluded.

Froilan Plata, leader of the teachers announced that it will be mobilized throughout the country.

"Let our extreme measures to be heard. We cannot remain in the streets for a few traitors (referring to Pedro Montes and the leader of the Confederation of Urban Teacher Jorge Baldivieso). "
Wilma Plata, said that the federations of teachers are deployed across the country.
"The government will not accept that we are a strong mobilization."
