Jaime Choque Apaza landless leader was arrested by Police

CONFLICT • Jaime Choque Apaza, was identified as the leader of the assailants of private property. He is being held by Police. There are arrest warrants for four other abettors, who last Saturday set fire to the sugar mill San Aurelio.

SANTA CRUZ, Bolivia. — Jaime Choque Apaza attacked the sugar factory "San Aurelio" las Saturday under the pretext of needing land. Four other accomplices are being sought and all together will be processed by a combination of offenses such as burglary, arson and aggravated robbery.

The night of the invasion a crowd burned part of the factory premises, destroyed machinery and injured at least six workers.

Bolivian prosecutor Severiche stressed that her institution can not be involved in the taking of land because it is a crime of a private nature (sic). That is the policy of the government of Evo Morales. There is no respect for private property.
