Romero: "Government does not violate the Constitution to meet requirements of the CIDOB"

INDIGENOUS DEMANDS • The Bolivian government reiterated its willingness to dialogue with the "Confederation of Indigenous Peoples of Eastern Bolivia" (CIDOB), but without infringing the political Constitution.

LA PAZ, Bolivia.— Although the Bolivian government reiterated its willingness to dialogue with the "Confederation of Indigenous Peoples of Eastern Bolivia” (CIDOB), but in no case infringe the mandates of the political Constitution, the Secretary Carlos Romero said on Thursday.

At a news conference the Secretary of Rural and Land Development, Nemesia Achacollo, explained that the government already give land to indigenous autonomies. She also said that Bolivian government granted the indigenous seats in the Plurinational Legislative Assembly.

Among other demands that require the CIDOB are eighteen seats, not seven as at present.

Romero lamented that some of the demands of the CIDOB "does not respect the rights of all Bolivians."
