WASHINGTON, USA . —

Insulza during an event at a center of ideas in Washington said:

"I hope that under the rules in our (Interamerican) law system the sentence in respect of former President Quiroga is reviewed."

"I am against the idea that there may be libel or slander against a legal person,"

"That a person should go to jail because they hurt the morale of a bank is reasonably unacceptable I think."

Jorge Tuto Quiroga Ramirez (2001-2002, President of Bolivia) was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for libel crime. He accused the Banco Union of being a "Laundry of resources of corruption."

Quiroga, could ask the judge a legal benefit: house arrest, judicial pardon, probation, those legal institutions would allow him not to enter prison.

Insulza predicted that if the judge statement is not reviewed, the case would end up:

"in American Commission on Human Rights and then the Inter-American Court."
