Paraguayan National Commission for Refugees gives shelter to Bolivian governor Mario Cossio

REFUGEE STATUS • The CONARE (National Commission for Refugees) of Paraguay on this Tuesday decided to grant refugee status to former governor of Tarija, Mario Cossio due to political persecution. The information was confirmed by Senator Zulma Gomez in conversation with ABC Digital website

ASUNCION, Paraguay .— The members of the National Commission for Refugees (CONARE) who decided finally to grant refuge to the Bolivian governor after a couple of meetings.

The fact came to generate international friction between Bolivia and Paraguay, as the government of Evo Morales made every effort to Cossío not receive the status of political refugee.

Senator Zulma Gomez confirmed to ABC Digital website that the decision was taken unanimously.
