Santos Ramirez accuses prosecutors of malfeasance to curb criminal proceedings

CORRUPTION • Former President of YPFB (Bolivian Oil Co.) Santos Ramirez, through a separate complaint to the prosecutors commission intends to curb criminal proceedings against him.

LA PAZ, Bolivia. — José Luis Paredes, lawyer of Santos Ramírez Valverde, confirmed to ERBOL broadcasting station that the objective is to separate prosecutors commission César Romano, Edward Mollinedo, Isabel Gomez and Aldo Ortiz who for having sided with the Bolivia State.

Paredes said:

"We want to set aside the prosecutors commission because they do not have objectivity in the criminal investigations. Mr. Santos Ramirez has the right to be investigated by appropriate and impartial prosecutors. They have to investigate the historical truth and not pursue Mr. Santos Ramírez, denying even simple xerox papers needed to defend to him".
Prosecutor Cesar Romano answered:
"Mr. Santos Ramirez and his lawyer Paredes have been given the task of quarrel with prosecutors for nonexistent crimes "
On 27 January 2009, the businessman, George O'Connor, was robbed and murdered in La Paz, Bolivia by a gang allegedly ordered by Santos Ramirez.
