LA PAZ, Bolivia .— The activist María Amparo Carvajal, with 36 years of experience in the defense of human rights of the most excluded and poor people expressed despair over the death of David Calisaya Mamani and Fidel Mario Hernani, died in police action in the 7 and 8 May 2010 in Caranavi.

Carvajal said, speaking to the broadcasting network ERBOL:

"The government must change its attitude and respect the basic rights of the people."

"I can not understand people who previously fought for the rights and now that he has the 'power' does not accomplish the Political Constitution."

Sacha Llorenti was a member of the Permanent Assembly for Human Rights of Bolivia.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Marcos Farfán said Carvajal’s statements is a "naive" defense of Jorge Quiroz, lawyer of those killed in Caranavi.
