Italy calls on Bolivia extradition of drug lord Stefano Ferrari

DRUGS • The Bolivian government confirmed today that Italy demanded the extradition of Stefano Ferrari, one of the kingpins of drug trafficking mafias in Europe.

LA PAZ, Bolivia .— According to the director of the Special Force against Drug Trafficking (FELCN), Gonzalo Quesada, Rome expects Ferrari to be returned for trial.

The Italian citizen was arrested on last April 10 in Santa Cruz’s Viru Viru airport. Over him weighs an international arrest warrant because he is the leader of an international network of cocaine trafficking.

Ferrari was wanted and required by the Italian authorities since 2005 on charges of tax evasion, forgery, use of fake stamps from public institutions, trafficking in controlled substances and conspiracy to obtain drugs destined for transfer to the Old Continent.
