LA PAZ, Bolivia .— The president of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Evo Morales, said that promoting the null vote, flawed or abstention in the upcoming elections which will elect the authorities of the judiciary and the Court Constitution, is an undemocratic attitude of some people who want to maintain the situation of justice in the country.
President Morales made the remarks in reference to those presented by the Executive Secretary of the Central Obrera Boliviana (COB), Pedro Montes, who said he would not be possible to vote "but is not known to candidates” for judicial office.
President Morales, said:
"I heard some voices that I don’t agree, there will be null vote, blank vote or abstention; I don’t think bolivians are undemocratic because in recent elections and referenda show that there was greater engagement with more than 90 per cent stake but at certain times and in the 90s, for example, hardly had a 50 or 60 percent of voting in the elections (...) Maybe there are some people who don’t want to change the justice, they want abstention. But I feel that this is completely undemocratic. "Evo Morales asked people to participate in the elections based on the perception that every single person has of the candidates, who will be elected to do justice in the country.

The Executive Secretary of the Departmental Federation of Workers in Urban Education from La Paz, José Luis Álvarez, announced that several sections of the COB will raise to approve the slogan "blank vote" for the upcoming judicial elections.
These trade union leaders call blank or null vote because candidates will be appointed by the Congress (125 in total) and all of them will be members from the government party: the MAS (Movement towards Socialism) of Evo Morales. People will not elect they only will vote to legitimize the appointment of candidates related to the MAS.
