LA PAZ, Bolivia. — The police apprehended Saturday morning the candidate for mayor of Achacachi for non-payment of family assistance. The candidate is the Movement Toward Socialism (MAS).
Alfonso Cosme was caught by two policemen who arrived to the town of Achacachi from the city of La Paz.
Liberty broadcast station reported that:
"He was taken to La Paz, while the people who saw capture did absolutely nothing to prevent the MAS candidate”.One of the neighbors commented:
"Cosme, was handpicked by the MAS as candidate and he does not have as much support from the urban population of Achacachi, so did nothing. He also has to comply with its obligations as a father."Achacachi had appointed journalist Tito Mamani Barrios as a candidate for mayor. But Evo Morales ignored the will of the people electing Cosme.
Police said Alfonso Cosme delivered their statements on Monday 29 March.
