UNODC asks Bolivia for more effective social control of coca leaves

COCA LEAF • The representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Bolivia (UNODC), Cesar Guedes, asked effective social control over the cultivation of coca leaves, to avoid further expansion of them.

LA PAZ, Bolivia .— Guedes said the government of Evo Morales has to see how to manage a better control of the illicit cultivation of green leaf and thus complete the national strategy against drug trafficking.

Guedes said:

"Government has to regulate the cultivation in the tropical zone of Cochabamba and if this is really an instance to monitor and control, we agree, but as long as they drive on the framework of what is social control,… ".
