Freddy Reque Quiroga hears sentence for murder on Harrington Street in 1984

FUGITIVE CAPTURE • Former Lt. Col. Freddy Reque Quiroga heard his sentence to 30 years in prison without the right to pardon. Thursday began serving his sentence, after being suddenly caught in La Paz.

LA PAZ , Bolivia. — A Bolivian judge, José Ayaviri, read the sentence that the Supreme Court ruled in 1984 against the leaders of the military dictatorship headed by former Gen. Luis Garcia Meza and his second in command, Luis Arce Gomez, also sentenced to 30 years in prison without the right to pardon and held in maximum security penitentiary of Chonchocoro.
"The accused Freddy Reque Quiroga must serve a sentence of 30 years imprisonment without the right to pardon, in the prison of Chonchocoro, from the date according to the provisions of the sentence that weighs against him".

Reque Quiroga was accused of murdering eight leaders, the Staff of the Left Revolutionary Movement (MIR) who were considered conspiring against the dictatorship of Garcia Meza in a house on Harrington Street.

Reque Quiroga remained fugitive, hiding in Argentina, for at least 15 years.
