Indigenous people will march to La Paz in search of their own autonomy

PROTEST MARCH • Indigenous peoples from east Bolivia: Chaco and Amazon decided to go to the city of La Paz because of the lack of land titling, allocation of territories, the non-implementation of regional autonomy.

SANTA CRUZ DE LA SIERRA, Bolivia. — The decision was taken on May 4 at the third National Committee of the Confederation of Indigenous Peoples of Eastern Bolivia (CIDOB). The march was called to next May 20 and aims to cover the distance of 980 kilometers between Riberalta of the seat of government: La Paz.

But the Autonomy Secretary Carlos Romero said the CIDOB successfully concluded within the future Autonomy Act, expectations, demands and planning on the autonomy of indigenous peoples.

The mobilization also called indigenous Congress members and alternate members, to join and participate in a mandatory way in the seventh march of the indigenous peoples of CIDOB.
